Biography
Bertrand Delais graduated from Sciences Politiques and EHESS in 1986 and 1988. After studying cinema, Bertrand Delais became a documentary filmmaker for over 20 years. He has directed and produced documentary series on politics and history for television, mainly based on interviews and archives. In particulary, he directed with Stéphanie Malphettes the series Pouvoir et Télévision, the documentary series Je vote comme Je suis for France 5. Both were presented at FIPA. In addition, he has directed several documentaries for other channels. Le jour où la France a dit non on the European referendum, for France 2 and awarded at the victories of the SCAM, Les raisons de la colère on the CPE crisis. He also directed two documentary serials for France 5, one on the TV war and the other on the French Socialist Party. He also wrote the script for a documentary fiction for France 2 about May 1981 and co-wrote the one about Georges Pompidou’s illness. His film on the Berlin Wall, Décompte fatal was selected at the Festival of Pessac. More recently, he directed 3 films with Emmanuel Macron. The first was a portrait and the second a diary of his campaign broadcast on France 2 the day after his election. The third was a documentary on the first year of Emmanuel Macron’s presidency, La fin de l’innocence broadcast in prime time on France 3. In 2022, he completed a series on the icons of the 20th Century broadcast on France 5. Since 2018, he has been directing LCP-AN.
He has always in the same time made photography for more than 15 years and has built little by little a personal photographic world.
