Born in the United States in 1959 as the daughter of a French mother and an American father, Virginie Isbell grew up between the two countries. After studying Comparative Literature at Yale, she worked as an English-speaking journalist in Paris for seven years, before joining Leonardo Cremonini’s studio at the Beaux-Arts de Paris. She also trained with the pastelist Pierre Skira.
For thirty years, Virginie has exhibited in France (Salon de Montrouge, Musée du Luxembourg de Paris, Musée de l’Isle-Adam…), then in the United States. Finally, since 2006, she has gradually moved to Uruguay, where she is now represented by Galería Sur, in Punta del Este.
