Les allers et venues de Laure VASCONI entre Buenos Aires et Montevideo dans les années 1990 ont fait naître plusieurs séries de photographies en noir et blanc et en couleurs. Une sélection est présentée dans le cadre de la nouvelle Viewing Room de la galerie Sit Down.
«Ces photographies sont inspirées par les romans de Julio Cortazar ou Juan Carlos Onetti, découverts et lus pendant mes voyages. J’ai traversé à plusieurs reprises le Rio de la Plata qui relie Buenos Aires et Montevideo, chacune sur sa rive, l’une en Argentine, l’autre en Uruguay. Il reste des images de voyages initiatiques à une culture, un continent, une langue et une nouvelle famille. Jeune photographe, Leica et Nikon autour du cou, je déambule entre les deux villes et les deux rives dans l’excitation et la découverte de ce nouveau monde. »

Les photographies en noir et blanc sont des tirages d’époque réalisés sur papier barytés par Voya Mitrovic en 1990. Les photographies couleur sont des tirages chromogènes d’époque.
